A centralised base for its nationwide employees, the new building is ability-friendly, multi-functional, adaptable, laidback – and in light of covid – spacious enough to allow safe social interaction and connection. The space feels like a workplace, but has the comfort of home – it’s almost exemplary of Ray Oldenburg’s ‘Third Place Theory’.
What is most impressive about the design, is that it focuses on facilitating mental wellbeing – with abundant use of natural light and generous space for plants throughout the building (not yet planted on our pre-opening visit). Its design and testing is centred around safe, adaptable and ease of use for those of all abilities, including the visually impaired, blind, (and their guide dogs) and those navigating the space by way of wheelchair.
It was a pleasure to work with, and see a business taking such great care to respond to the needs across the board of abilities of their team.
