What is Imperial College Women in Business Society?
Imperial College Women in Business (ICWB) aims to create a sustainable network of ambitious and exceptional Imperial students from a variety of backgrounds who are passionate and knowledgeable about the empowerment of women in business. Members of ICWB are business-savvy, creative and powerful thinkers. Our society is all about supporting the next generation of women leaders, connecting with the industry, and embarking on a rewarding career path.
What has your role as president of the ICWIB society taught you?
Being the President of ICWB has taught me many things but one of the most important things I learned is the importance of female empowerment and leadership. I believe that when women are empowered (having equal opportunities to engage in all sectors of society), the world will be a better place to live. Other soft skills I learned are effective communication and the ability to accommodate people from different backgrounds.

What kind of events have ICWB organised/ attended? Why have they been important for your members?
There were a variety of events hosted by ICWB this academic year. Some of the events include female power night with Female Invest start-up at Financial Times, personal branding and female empowerment with EY, consulting case study workshop with Strategy&, Networking event with Deutsche Bank, Women in Finance/ Entrepreneurship panel, mentoring scheme, cocktail nights and last but not least, a professional portrait photoshoot with Laportra! These events provided the necessary skills for our members to enter and excel in the corporate industry. More importantly, we were able to develop a positive and supportive network through the events.
What do you think women add to the world of business?
The diversity in gender in the world of business brings broader perspectives, leading to more creative problem-solving and better business decision-making. Moreover, female leaders bring unique skill sets that are often less seen in male leaders, hence bringing a positive change in the organisation.

What has been the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Your path will lead you to where you’re meant to be!
And everyone has an equal amount of luck, it’s a matter of when you’ll have it.
If you could change the world in one way, what would you change?
If I could change the world in one way, I wish to provide equal access to education to everyone, with special emphasis on educating females. Furthermore, the education system should equip individuals with practical skills that are crucial in life, including but not limited to, understanding payslips, taxes, cooking etc.
